Climate Empathy Webinar
Activism on climate change and the injustice it brings to marginalized communities is essential in combating climate injustice on a global and local level.
However, many activists often feel stuck when trying to rally people behind a cause, as many experience mass apathy and a lack of awareness from their communities. Even if activists do not feel stuck, trying to convince their peers, politicians, and others to act on climate change through sheer statistics and fear is not the most proactive way to create change.
Psychologists and early childhood researchers report that empathy is an inherent social trait that is evident in the youngest of children; we are always moved by an issue when it triggers empathy.
As a community of students who have faced many advocacy challenges, our webinar discussed eliminating these social barriers and communicating our climate advocacy to our communities in a more efficient and effective manner.
We are focusing on targeting the student and adult climate activist audience, who can learn how to extent the impact of their activism through a psychological, moreover, social standpoint.
